Letter: It’s all about freedom

By Vern Schanilec, Washougal

In his Dec. 18 op-ed, “Splitting state is cutting off east’s nose to spite its face,” Greg Jayne offers how the “People’s Republic of Seattle” in King County sponsors more payments to the “poorer counties” than they get back. He accused secessionists in California, Oregon and Washington of “shameless pandering to the easily hoodwinked.” Can you imagine the outcry if a conservative used that politically incorrect labeling?

Regarding “repealing the Affordable Care Act,” he omitted the word “replace.” Conservatives have said, all along, “repeal and replace.” He apparently hasn’t looked into the upcoming skyrocketing costs of ACA in January.

Jayne states we are “in this together.” California, Oregon and Washington have three liberal governors and six liberal senators. Conservatives have no representation at those levels. Seattle and other population centers are welfare cities that attract those easily hoodwinked into getting their hands filled and vote accordingly.

Our centers of government think it’s about the money and dependency thereof. Secessionists would be overjoyed to send the money back to Seattle and do what it takes to be free.

This is not about the money. It’s about freedom from the oppression by the elite that run our three left coast states as reflected in liberal newspapers. Anyone who thinks the status quo is working might review the results of the presidential election.
