Chalk it up to joy

Main Street in Vancouver got a little more joyful Tuesday as the sidewalks were covered with messages of optimism and inspiration written with chalk. The annual Chalk the Walks celebration began in Vancouver in 2011 and has since spread across the nation and to other countries. It’s put on by The Joy Team, a Vancouver-based nonprofit whose positive messages can be seen on billboards around town, even after Tuesday’s work fades away.
