PORTLAND — After three months of asbestos and lead abatement on the site of the former Multnomah Greyhound Park, demolition has begun for a hotel and more.
The Grand Ronde tribal confederation bought the property last year for about $10 million, according to Multnomah County property records.
“A hotel, entertainment, some retail, mixed-use,” Jesse White, an engineering and public works manager with the tribe, said of the tentative plans.
Looking up at the former dog park built in 1957, White said it was a relief to see the main structure finally start coming down. The teardown process will take another week or so to complete.
