A man who allegedly brandished a knife was arrested after a foot pursuit with deputies late Tuesday.

Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Northeast Highway 99 and Northeast 104th Street at about 11:15 p.m. for a report of a man who had a knife and was making threats to kill someone, the sheriff’s office reported.

The man also allegedly had broken a car window and the window of a nearby business, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputy Rick Osborne arrived at the scene and located the suspect, who refused to stop, the sheriff’s office said. The man ran west across Northeast Highway 99, went around a restaurant and crossed the highway again before going into a ravine with dense vegetation, deputies said.

A police K-9 tracked the suspect into brush and water at the bottom of ravine and bit the suspect. Deputies then took him into custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect, identified as James M. Taylor, 32, a transient, was taken to an area hospital for treatment before he was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and malicious mischief.
