A Vancouver man suspected of intoxicated driving was injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night.

Emergency personnel responded to state Highway 503, about 6 miles north of Battle Ground, just before 9 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Scott O’Malley, 32, was driving a 2006 White Pontiac Grand Am north on the highway when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left, went off of the roadway and hit the tree, troopers reported.

O’Malley was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Monday.

Troopers said that speed caused the crash and that O’Malley faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and failing to wear a seat belt.
