Three adults are left without a home after a fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home in Battle Ground.
Crews from Clark County Fire & Rescue were called to the residence, 10404 N.E. 299th St., just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
When they arrived, they found a highly involved fire at the home, fire agency spokesman Tim Dawdy said.
All of the three residents were able to escape without injury, Dawdy said, but they are now without a place to live.
“Firefighters were able to attack the fire, knock it down and stabilize the situation, but quite a bit of damage had been done to the structure already,” Dawdy said.
Senior Deputy Fire Marshal Curtis Eavenson said the fire appeared to have started on the building’s porch, likely due to a cigarette.
The home is a total loss, he said: The fire did an estimated $50,000 in damage, possibly $80,000 when including the home’s contents. The fire also burned two vehicles.
