The University of Oregon Foundation has purchased iconic buildings in Portland’s Old Town district.

The foundation, which manages the university’s endowment, bought the White Stag Block facility for $42.6 million Wednesday.

The White Stag Block includes the Bickel Block, Skidmore Block and White Stag buildings. The facility is home to the neon “Portland Oregon” sign.

The facility’s previous owner, Craig Kelly, said the university became an anchor tenant in 2008 and occupies more than 70 percent of the 137,000-square-foot location.

The university’s website said students there are working on master’s degrees in architecture, strategic communication, business administration, sports product management, law and multimedia journalism.
