The top two seeds from the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League will face each other for the District 4 softball crown.

League champion Camas rolled to an 8-2 victory over Mountain View in one semifinal Tuesday at Battle Ground High School, and host Battle Ground held off Union 3-2 in the other semifinal.

The Papermakers and Tigers will square off at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be the district champion and earn a trip to the Class 4A state tournament.

Mountain View and Union will play in the consolation bracket, also at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will take on the loser of the championship game for the district’s final berth to state. That game is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Katie Schroeder struck out 10 and had a two-run double, and Tori O’Neill hit a home run, leading Camas over the Thunder. Abby Wong also drove in two runs for the Papermakers.

Battle Ground’s Alexis Morrison hit a home run and Morgan Stradley had a run-scoring double to make a winner of Parker Boyd, who struck out nine. It was the second day in a row the Tigers beat the Titans by a run. Battle Ground won the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed 1-0 on Monday.

Union reached the semifinals by beating Skyview 18-6 in the elimination round earlier Tuesday. Morgan Spieth hit a home run and drove in seven runs for the Titans. (She also homered in late game, a moon shot that went an estimated 270 feet from home plate.)

Mountain View’s Colleen Driscoll struck out eight in a 3-1 win over Heritage in that elimination game.

Ridgefield’s Coty Flack (173) was third, followed by Hockinson’s Cara Christensen (175) and Cameron Bielat (182).

Bellarmine 3, Evergreen 1 — Two early goals by the Lions were too much for Evergreen to overcome in the 4A state playoffs.

Levan Zhividze scored the Plainsmen’s lone goal in the second half.

“We’re pretty young, and I think nerves got to us,” Evergreen coach Keenan Burris said. “But I couldn’t ask for more from these young men. I’m extremely proud of all 22 of them.”
