A pickup struck a vehicle on state Highway 14 in Washougal on Wednesday afternoon, injuring a 17-year-old before driving away from the scene. While Washington State Patrol troopers found the pickup abandoned in the city, the driver was still at large Wednesday night.
Around 4 p.m., the eastbound pickup attempted to turn left from the highway onto 32nd Street and hit a westbound vehicle, causing the westbound vehicle to roll over, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Will Finn. The pickup then hit a concrete barrier and its front, driver’s side tire became deflated. Witnesses said the pickup stopped, then drove away, Finn said.
A 17-year-old passenger suffered a head laceration, which Finn described as not life-threatening. The 17-year-old driver was uninjured. More information about the teens was not available Wednesday.
Shortly after the collision, Washougal police found the white pickup, which had front-end damage and a flat tire. It had been abandoned near 22nd and E streets close to Hathaway Elementary School.
