Make it a stellar six for Kara Winger.

Winger, formerly Kara Patterson, won her sixth national javelin title Friday at the U.S. Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. The Skyview High School graduate also won in 2008-11 and 2014.

The two-time Olympian won with her first throw, which traveled 213 feet, 1 inch. Brittany Borman finished second in 202-9.

In winning Friday, Winger qualified for the IAAF World Championships Aug. 22-30 in Beijing, site of her first Olympics in 2008.

Winger owns the American javelin record, which she set by throwing 218-8¾ at the 2010 U.S. Outdoor Championships.

Her career hit a bump when she tore her ACL during the 2012 Olympic Trials. Though she competed in the 2012 Olympics, the injury required surgery and rehabilitation that occupied much of her 2013 season.

In May, Winger threw 218-1 for the second-best mark of her career.

Also Friday, Alexa Efraimson of Camas failed to advance out of the preliminaries in the 1,500 meters.

Efraimson, 18, set an American junior record of 4 minutes, 3.39 seconds four weeks ago on the same Hayward Field track. Friday, with temperatures in the mid-90s, she ran 4:15.21 to finish fourth in her qualifying heat.

The top three runners in each of heat, plus the next three fastest times, advanced to Sunday’s final. Efraimson’s race was the slowest of three qualifying heats.
