A wildfire burned through at least 40 acres of brush and forest Sunday northeast of Woodland.
The blaze, named the Colvin Creek Fire, was reported at about noon Sunday near the intersection of Fredrickson Road and state Highway 503 in Cowlitz County, said state Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Janet Pearce. The fire had grown to at least 40 acres by Sunday evening.
Three helicopters, three air tankers and a ground crew were dispatched to fight the fire, and an incident management team was sent to help, Pearce said. They were expected to set up a base camp, possibly at a nearby school, she added.
“There are going to be a lot of air attacks,” she said.
The cause of the Colvin Creek Fire had not been determined Sunday, and as of Sunday evening, no structures were threatened by the blaze, Pearce said.
