SPOKANE — A mother who says she was asked to breast-feed her child in a bathroom at a public pool in Spokane organized a “nurse-in” to highlight the rights of breast-feeding mothers.
Lydia Davis said about a dozen mothers brought their children to the pool Friday.
She said people need to understand that the law allows breast-feeding in public. Nobody, she said, should feel ashamed to feed a hungry child.
A spokeswoman for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department said staff at the pool were trained on the law soon after Davis alerted administrators to the incident.
