Police identify woman found after shots fired, house burned

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene police have identified one of two people have found dead after shots were fired and a house burned down.

The Register-Guard reports that authorities on Monday identified 52-year-old Heidi Rice as one of the victims found Saturday.

Eugene police Capt. Sherri Meisel says the other person whose body was found was a man who has relatives who have not yet been notified of his death.

Officers were dispatched to a house after report of shots fired. When they arrived at the home, police found the residence was on fire.

Meisel says she has not yet seen an autopsy report and does not know if a medical examiner has determined the cause and manner of death for the two people.
