The Union Titans and Mountain View Thunder are the top two teams at the Clark County Wrestling Championships after the first day of the competition at Prairie High School.

Team points were not available at press time due to a scoring error at the event, but event officials said Union and Mountain View lead the field, with Battle Ground likely in third place.

The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Saturday, with championship matches tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m.

Union leads the way with 10 semifinalists. Mountain View has eight. Prairie and Washougal each have five in the semifinals.

Three matches to keep an eye on for the team title: Troy Ewers of Mountain View will take on Ethan Rotondo of Union in a 106-pound semifinal. Skylar Scott of Mountain View will face Michael Snediker of Union at 160 pounds. And Grayson Funk of Mountain View will face Alex Berfanger of Union in a 182-pound semifinal.

Columbia River is guaranteed to have at least one finalist. Teammates Larry Anderson and Nathan Pyles are set to face each other in one of the 152-pound semifinals. It is the only semifinal match pitting teammates against each other.

The small schools are guaranteed to get at least one finalist. Brandon McKee of Washougal and Aaron Burns of Hockinson, both representing Class 2A, face off in a 285-pound semifinal.

The girls tournament is a one-day event, starting Saturday and ending with championship matches, also at 6 p.m.
