Letter: Why can’t restrictions be enforced?

The Columbian
Published: January 8, 2015, 4:00pm

Fireworks started in my neighborhood at 6:45 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and continued until 12:45 a.m. New Year’s Day. I also got previews during the Christmas week. So why doesn’t the local government and law enforcement care?

Why don’t they care about the people who have expressed unhappiness with the use of fireworks in Vancouver, the citizens who have worked hard, raised families and paid their share of taxes?

Many of us are retired now and long to live a peaceful, uncomplicated life for whatever time is left to us. Why don’t they care?

Some of us have pets who we love and care for as members of our family. The pets are terrorized by fireworks. Why don’t they care?

Why should we have to medicate those pets and hide in our homes to dull the sound of bombs going off around us? Why don’t they care?

Why should I have to spend every New Year’s Eve and Fourth of July in this way so some fools can set off bombs in their front yards?

Something is very wrong about this and I don’t understand why they don’t care.
