A broad transportation package proposed by state Senate leaders on Thursday includes about $160 million for several highway projects in Clark County, plus another $6 million in transit and rail upgrades.
The largest portion of that, $82.8 million, would go toward a new interchange at Interstate 5 and Mill Plain Boulevard in Vancouver, according to a project list released with the announcement. The list also includes:
o $35 million to widen state Highway 14 between Interstate 205 and Southeast 164th Avenue.
o $21.4 million for improvements to the Camas Slough Bridge along state Highway 14.
o $7.7 million for widening Main Street/state Highway 502 in Battle Ground.
o $7.3 million for a rail overpass in Ridgefield.
o $6 million for improvements to state Highway 501 from I-5 to the Port of Vancouver.
The proposal also includes $4.3 million for upgrades at two C-Tran facilities, and another $1.9 million for the Port of Vancouver’s West Vancouver Freight Access project.
Notably missing from the list is money for a new interchange at I-5 and Northeast 179th Street near the Clark County Fairgrounds. That’s a project many local leaders have pushed for, and was among a list of priority projects recently sent to legislators for consideration.
