Boys basketball: Washougal 48, Hockinson 38

A third-quarter surge carried the Panthers past the visiting Hawks in a 2A Greater St. Helens League game.

Washougal outscored Hockinson 19-13 in the third quarter, converting several turnovers into transition baskets and building a nine-point advantage. Yorro Bah scored seven of his team-high 12 points in the third quarter and Dylan Snapp had four points in the decisive stretch.

The result kept Washougal in second place in the 2A GSHL, one game n front of Woodland and now two ahead of Hockinson. Top-ranked Mark Morris has secured the league title.

Snapp, playing for the injured Ryan Taylor, finished with 11 points, three steals and four rebounds. Bah had four steals and six rebounds.

The Panthers led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. Hockinson pulled within sic points inside the last three minutes.

Kinai Kiyokawa led Hockinson with 11 points. He hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter but was then held scoreless until a fourth-quarter basket.
