Letter: Subsidizing corporations must end

By Rod Steckler, Vancouver

Many have heard of, but not understood, what “corporate welfare” is. The Dec. 1 bottom front-page story, “State gave Boeing pass on $19.5M in sales tax,” referred to the 2013 aerospace tax-incentive package, estimated to be worth $8.7 billion over 16 years, the largest state corporate subsidy in U.S. history.

I’m tired and I’m angry. This is the political revolution that we must bring to fruition as soon as possible. We must put an end to these abuses of our tax dollars.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
