Vancouver — The Fort Vancouver National Trust is accepting entry applications for its 29th annual Veterans Parade at Fort Vancouver. The event will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 7, rain or shine, beginning on the east end of Officers Row at East Reserve Street.

The parade attracts more than 120 entries — Scout groups, marching bands, equestrian units, car clubs, many more — and as many as 2,500 marching or riding individuals annually. According to organizers, it is one of the largest Department of Veteran Affairs-sanctioned veterans parades on the West Coast.

Parade entry applications are available online at www.fortvan.org/veteransparade; at the Fort Vancouver National Trust office in the O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St., Vancouver; or by calling the Trust at 360-992-1804. The application deadline is October 2.

The parade is sometimes called the “Lough Legacy Parade” because it’s paid for in perpetuity with a gift from the estate of Frank and Joanne Lough. Frank Lough spent 22 years in the Navy.
