Clark County Public Health lifted the swim advisory at Vancouver Lake on Friday afternoon after inspections showed algae levels no longer posed a threat.
Health officials last week warned visitors to Vancouver Lake Regional Park to avoid contact with the water due to high levels of blue-green algae, or cyanobacteria.
“We are pleased to announce that the lake is again safe for swimming and other recreational uses,” said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County health officer, in a news release. “Conditions could change, however, so we urge people to be watchful and avoid any pockets of the lake that might have a scummy texture and a green, bluish, brownish, or reddish-green color.”
Caution signs at the lake have been removed. Signage will be updated if conditions change.
Clark County Public Health will continue to monitor Vancouver Lake for algae and bacteria every two weeks this summer.
