SEATTLE — Washington residents won’t be slipping and sliding through town any time soon after county and state departments of health denied Slide the City approval.

The Seattle Times reports that the giant water slide event will not be coming to Seattle, Spokane and the Tri-Cities. On Wednesday, health officials said the company did not submit adequate information outlining safety standards, water quality and drainage methods to receive permission to host the event.

Slide the City organizer Amy Gessel says the company removed the cities from its tour in hopes of addressing the problems and obtaining permits for next year. The water slide was scheduled to come to Washington in mid-August.

Slide the City events number in the hundreds across the country. Sliders use inflatable rafts to ride through towns.
