Letter: Gas tax wasted on poor projects

The Columbian
Published: April 19, 2015, 5:00pm

I am so not in favor of another gas tax increase. The last several gas tax increases have not gone to fixing the potholes in the roads that seem to be increasing every day, nor any sensible road improvements in this county (like a bridge over the Columbia River). What I have been seeing is a lot of new red lights and stop signs throughout residential areas that just irritate drivers. It must be because the sign salesman took someone to lunch.

A huge amount of gas tax money has been spent on the hairball intersection (I-5, I-205, 134th and 139th streets) and the billion dollar mole hole (Seattle tunnel) that the state continues to pour money into without any results and doesn’t seem to care.

If I support a tax increase, it will be with evidence that the money will be used for something credible.
