The man whose body was found in a swimming pool at a housing complex Tuesday morning has been identified by officials.

The Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Troy A. Hendrix, 42, of Vancouver. His cause of death is pending further investigation by the medical examiner.

Police and fire personnel were called to the Shorewood East Condominium, 5575 E. Evergreen Blvd., at 9:12 a.m. Tuesday for a report that a person had possibly drowned.

A resident walking by saw Hendrix, who was fully clothed, floating in the half-filled pool and tried to get him out, said Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

Arriving firefighters conducted CPR and other lifesaving efforts, but they were not successful, Kapp said.

Because of the unusual circumstances, the agency’s major crimes detectives were called to the scene to investigate. But a few hours into the investigation, they reported that the death appeared to be related to a medical issue, Kapp said.
