The cause of a fire that damaged a Fircrest house Saturday remains undetermined, according to the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office.

Lead Deputy Fire Marshal Chad Lawry said the fire at 12204 N.E. Ninth St. started on the back porch. It was reported at 12:09 p.m.

Multiple accidental causes, including an electrical problem or the recent use of a fire pit and a barbecue, couldn’t be ruled out as causes, Lawry said.

The blaze reportedly spread to the kitchen and part of the attic, and caused an estimated $80,000 in damage to the single-story house.

No injuries were reported by fire crews, who rescued a cat from the house.
