A Camas man was arrested after driving the wrong way on state Highway 14, causing a crash with two other vehicles and then attempting to flee on foot, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Kevin S. Wilson, 40, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault and felony hit and run after a crash late Wednesday in Camas, according to Washington State Patrol.

Wilson was behind the wheel of a 2003 GMC pickup traveling east in the westbound lanes of the highway at about 11:17 p.m. when he crashed into a Maroon 1985 Volkswagen Cabriolet, according to the State Patrol.

A third vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Camry, then crashed into the Volkswagen.

The driver of the pickup drove for another 100 yards before stopping, according to Trooper Will Finn. Wilson then tried to flee troopers on foot with his dog, Finn said.

Within minutes, Camas police closed the road, set up a detour and sent units to Wilson’s house, Finn said, where he was found locked outside with his dog.

Witnesses stated they saw the vehicle enter the highway from the Southeast 164th street offramp, according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Volkswagen, Dan S. Daley, 58, of Vancouver, was injured and taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center where he is listed in good condition.

Troopers said the driver of the Camry, Ardon Derie, 62, of Vancouver was also injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center by a friend. His condition was not available.

All westbound lanes of the highway were closed for about three hours.
