Vancouver police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a Vancouver man early Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the 3700 block of Columbia Way at 12:10 a.m. and found a car had crashed into a tree on the south side of the roadway, according to a Vancouver Police Department press memo.
Emergency crews removed the driver, Anthony N. Almeida, 24, of Vancouver, and took him to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, the memo said. He later died at the hospital.
Almeida was the only occupant in the car at the time of the crash, police said. The agency’s traffic unit is still investigating the incident, but police said speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash.
