Three people were injured in a crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 205 after a driver fell asleep at the wheel, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Christina Hardesty, 28, of Kelso told troopers that she fell asleep while driving a 1996 Audi A4 south on the freeway, according to state patrol. The Audi struck the rear of a 2003 Ford Explorer just after 4 a.m. near Northeast Burton Road in Vancouver, WSP said.

Hardesty and her passenger, John O’Brien, 37, of Kelso were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. The driver of the Explorer, Martha Magdalenomontiel, 37, of Vancouver also was taken to the hospital. All of the people involved in the incident were treated and released.

Hardesty was cited for suspicion of second-degree negligent driving.
