Jo-Ann Fabric adds second local outlet

The retailer has opened a second Clark County store, carrying fabrics, notions and crafting supplies, in Hazel Dell.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores on Sunday opened its second Clark County store, in Hazel Dell, where the retailer is poised to capitalize on crafty west-side consumers.

The new store on the corner of Northeast Highway 99 and 78th Street is stocked with necessities for tailors, quilters, scrap-booking fanatics and needle artists, said Margie McGhee, store team leader.

“Knitting is so hot now, it’s crazy,” she said.

Food crafting, in the form of cake decorating, is another big trend among crafty people. Jo-Ann’s is stocked with products for food crafters, jewelry makers and floral designers at its new store at the Totem Pole Shopping Center, 7907 N.E. Highway 99.

“We’re always trying to improve our selection to meet the needs of our customers,” McGhee said.

About 40 employees were hired to work at the store. McGhee expects the staff count will fluctuate throughout the selling season.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores is based in Hudson, Ohio. It operates an established location at 11505 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., Vancouver, as part of a chain of 830 stores in 49 states.
