A Vancouver man remained in critical condition Monday after crashing his motorcycle Saturday evening on state Highway 14 in east Vancouver.

Jeffrey M. Hargrave, 36, was driving a 2008 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle eastbound on the highway just before 9 p.m. when he crashed into the back of a 2003 PT Cruiser where the highway passes under Interstate 205.

Hargrave suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

He was transported from the scene to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. Monday evening, Hargrave remained in the intensive care unit.

The driver of the PT Cruiser, James L. Massey, 66, and his passenger, Jeannine E. Massey, 71, did not sustain any injuries. Both are from Vancouver.

Hargrave was wearing a helmet and traveling at a high rate of speed during the crash, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the incident.
