PORTLAND — A 62-year-old Ridgefield woman died after she was hit by a light-rail train Thursday in Portland.
Portland police said it appears Yvonne Osredkar didn’t hear the MAX train entering a station near the Lloyd Center Mall, perhaps because of nearby construction noise, and stepped in front of it.
The Oregonian reported she was pinned between the undercarriage and the tracks. Firefighters used hydraulic jacks and removed a section of the bumper to get her free. She later died at the hospital.
She was an investigator for the Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board.
