Ore. woman escapes harm as plane crashes into house

McMINNVILLE, Ore. — Authorities say a pilot whose small plane crashed into the side of a house in Oregon has died, but a woman inside the dwelling was able to escape without injuries.

The McMinnville Police Department said the crash occurred Monday afternoon. The first law enforcement officers to arrive said the plane hit a garage and ended up inside the home.

The pilot of the Lancair plane as identified Charles W. Yochelson, 56, of Sheridan, Ore.

The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Yamhill County News-Register said the woman escaped along with her pets.
