A Vancouver man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with a car accident that killed his 18-year-old passenger east of Hockinson earlier that morning.
Yuri Tasmaly, 18, of Vancouver faces charges of vehicular homicide, felony hit and run and vehicle theft. Additional charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and driving with a suspended license were referred to the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
Mikhail L. Golovach, 18, of Vancouver was found in the passenger’s side of the BMW M3 E46 sedan.
A resident of the 26400 of Northeast Rawson Road called 911 just after 6 a.m. today to report the crash of a BMW into a tree, according to sheriff’s office Sgt. Duncan Hoss.
Golovach was left in the car and Tasmaly was not found, Hoss said.
After searching the area for about an hour and a half, deputies found Tasmaly in the Larch Mountain area. The man had injuries from the crash and was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for evaluation.
Following his stay at the hospital, he was booked into the Clark County Jail.
The agency is continuing its investigation.
