A $75,000 donation to the Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation will benefit Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s Child Abuse Assessment Team.

The family of Mary J. Martin, a foundation trustee, made the donation in Martin’s honor. She died in April 2012.

The foundation has decided to rename the program’s endowment fund the Mary Jane Martin Endowment for Child Abuse Assessment.

The foundation has raised nearly $200,000 for the endowment. The goal is to reach $1 million over the next several years to support the ongoing work of the Child Abuse Assessment Team.

Since it opened in 2011, the the team has taken more than 300 referrals from hospital emergency rooms, the Children’s Justice Center, primary care providers, Child Protective Services and other sources.

Donations can be made at Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation or by calling Shirley Gross at 360-487-3457 or skgross@lhs.org.
