A couple found dead Wednesday evening in a Vancouver house died in a murder-suicide, according to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Cheryl L. Honey, 57, was killed by a gunshot wound to the chest and left arm; Robert G. Hedgers, 51, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, according to results of autopsies performed by Clark County Medical Examiner, Dr. Dennis Wickham.

Their bodies were found about 5 p.m. Wednesday in their home at 3207 N.E. 135th Ave. in the Image neighborhood. The couple had lived there for just a few weeks after moving to Vancouver from Long Beach, in Pacific County. Hedgers had recently started a maintenance job at Christensen, a Vancouver yacht maker.

Honey’s daughter, Emma Sims, said that her mother and Hedgers were engaged on Honey’s birthday, March 29, and were planning to marry July 6.

Honey has three other children and was the founder of the Family Support Network International and Community Weaving, a coalition for those who start community support networks.

Before the two met, Hedgers had a restraining order filed against him in 2002 after a former girlfriend said he had committed acts of domestic violence.
