A Vancouver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his car crashed into two pickup trucks and killed one of the vehicle’s occupants Thursday night in the Rose Village neighborhood.

Mark Gant, 20, was the driver of a gray Honda that collided with two pickup trucks, one a GMC and the other a Chevy S10, at the intersection of East 33rd and P streets, according to a Vancouver Police Department. The crash was reported at 10:06 p.m. Thursday.

The male driver of the GMC, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel. Police have withheld his name until they have notified the man’s family.

Gant was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, driving under the influence and felony and misdemeanor hit and run.

He and his passenger were taken to a hospital. Gant will remain in the hospital and be directly transported to jail following his medical release, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

Both occupants of the Chevy were treated and released at the hospital, a police bulletin states.

The Vancouver Police Traffic Unit is continuing its investigating into the collision.
