A transient, thought to be 25, was at a bus stop Tuesday night near East Fourth Plain Boulevard and Main Street when he started demanding a C-Tran security officer give him a gun so he could shoot himself, said Sgt. Kevin Hatley with the Vancouver Police Department.

Police responded to the scene across from the Walgreens at 7:14 p.m. The man was thought to be violent, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

However, the man complied when officers asked him to sit down, so they could handcuff him, Hatley said. He was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
