A Vancouver man is in the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder after a woman was found dead inside an Ogden neighborhood condominium Monday.

Vancouver police Sgt. Scott Creager said he could not give further details or names until next of kin is notified.

The two were married, and the incident allegedly was domestic violence-related, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The chain of events started Monday just before 9 p.m. when police responded to 3414 N.E. 83rd Ave. to check on the welfare of two people, according to a police department news release. Officers made contact with a man inside who said he was suicidal and had a handgun.

According to the release, police entered the house after the man stopped talking to them. They found someone dead inside and took someone into custody.

Victor and Nita Frye are the property owners, according to Clark County property records. The county jail roster says Victor Frye, 73, was booked at the jail Tuesday for suspicion of first-degree murder.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case.
