Letter: Libraries require ample parking

The Columbian
Published: November 6, 2012, 4:00pm

The Oct. 31 edition of The Columbian had a complimentary story “New library director’s career far from quiet” about Nancy Tessman, the new executive director of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District. She seems very qualified and I welcome her.

I do have a challenge for her and the board, though: if they plan another new library, please rearrange the priorities to include adequate parking. Both the new downtown Vancouver and Cascade Park branches have the look of modern, efficient buildings, but are virtually inaccessible by car during the day because of tiny crowded parking lots.

One way to gain voter support for future library measures is to ensure that the citizens can actually access the library without taking a bus.
