A facility built for McCord’s Vancouver Toyota has been awarded the silver level of certification by the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

The company’s $12.5 million showroom and service center opened in February 2011 in the Orchards area at 10009 N.E. Fourth Plain Road, off state Highway 500. The new facility was designed to minimize waste and energy use.

For example, a boiler system uses recycled oil from oil changes to heat the building. A rooftop system captures rainwater to supply the dealership’s drive-through car wash. The dealership’s 50,000-square-foot building was constructed by Building Structures Inc. of Boring, Ore.
