A Clark County Sheriff’s Office car was struck by a pickup while parked at the scene of a grass fire along Interstate 5 on Thursday, the Washington State Patrol reported. No one was injured.

The incident occurred about 6:25 p.m. at milepost 21, said WSP Trooper Ryan Tanner. Fire crews had just blocked the left lane of traffic, and the deputy had gotten out of his car to help keep traffic away from the fire engines.

The deputy’s car was struck by a Dodge pickup, Tanner said.

Names of those involved were not immediately available. Crews ended up blocking all traffic lanes for 45 minutes, then opened the right and center lanes. By 7:59 p.m. all lanes were open, although traffic remained clogged for some time after.
