Skamania County authorities have confirmed human remains found this month are those of Marie Hanson, who was last seen at the Rainbow Family gathering in July.

Hanson, a California resident, had attended the large gathering at Skookum Meadows in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, but failed to return from the event or contact her family.

Her remains were found near Big Creek. Skamania County sheriff’s deputies are still trying to discover how she died, according to a news release.

Her family held a memorial service for her last Saturday in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. More information about her is at Marie Hanson Missing.
