Two dogs repeatedly spotted roaming the area around the 1300 block of Northwest 80th Street, north of 78th Street and east of Lakeshore Avenue, attacked and killed a cat Thursday evening.

Gail Roberton said her 20-year-old black cat Boo was mauled to death in her front yard sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m.

One of Roberton’s neighbors chased off the dogs, which Roberton described as “pit bulls or pit bull mixes.”

A mail carrier told Roberton he often sees the animals in that area. It is not known who, if anyone, owns the animals.

“They could get anybody’s cat, or child, who knows,” Roberton said of the dogs.

The incident was reported to Clark County Animal Control. Anyone with information on the dogs is asked to call animal control at 360-397-2375.

The Vancouver City Council declined on Monday to consider a ban against pit bulls, opting instead to explore bolstering ordinances dealing with dangerous dogs in general.
