ISLAMABAD (AP) — Police say a suicide bomber has blown himself up outside a bank in a market in Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad, killing one person.

Islamabad police chief Wajid Durrani says the rare attack on Monday also wounded four people.

Police official Tahir Alam says the bomber tried to enter the bank building but was stopped by a security guard and blew himself up.

Rescue official Tariq Ali says the blast ripped through the basement of the bank.

Pakistan has suffered frequent militant attacks in the past several years, but Islamabad hasn’t experienced a bombing in many months.
