We so looked forward to the new library. The concrete structure is fairly attractive and all the lighting, as well as the terrace, is wonderful. There is room to add more books, and the librarians are so helpful. But, sadly, we won’t be using it much. Why? Because the designers/planners left out consideration for the elderly or disabled. We must walk the full length of the building from the parking lot and then come back to the middle of the building, where the elevators are located, before going to our destination within the building. What were they thinking? There should be another entrance near the parking lot, or at least in the middle of the building.
Then, there are five floors of steps and only two elevators for the public. What happens in case of an emergency when the elevators are full or broken and many people can’t use steps?
Escalators and making another entrance near the parking area would be more accommodating. How can such a monumental oversight as this occur?
