EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Workers are removing 288 parking meters from a 12-square block area of downtown Eugene.
Businesses hope two hours of free parking will bring in more shoppers. Parking enforcement officers will mark tires with chalk and ticket cars that exceed the limit.
The Register-Guard reports a 75-cents-an-hour parking charge remains for curbside parking elsewhere in Eugene and in city parking lots.
