BLAINE, Wash. (AP) — The Whatcom County Sheriff’s office says a 54-year-old Blaine man has been arrested after crashing two cars and driving a tow truck to attempt to retrieve the wrecked vehicles while intoxicated.
The Bellingham Herald reports that Tommy Ryser was arrested and booked in jail on three counts of driving under the influence Monday.
Police say that Ryser crashed his truck into a utility pole Monday night, abandoned that vehicle and got in his wife’s Volkswagen but crashed that car into a guardrail. He then got his privately-owned tow truck and attempted to tow the vehicles, even with a bloodied forehead.
Sgt. Larry Flynn says Ryser pulled up to the scene of one of the crashes while police were investigating the crash. They stopped him there and questioned him.
