OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Attorney General Rob McKenna has sued a liberal political strategist over alleged violations of the state’s campaign finance disclosure law during a primary election attack on a Democratic senator.

The lawsuit was filed Friday in Thurston County Superior Court against Lisa MacLean of Moxie Media and others. It asks the court to determine “appropriate” remedies under state statutes that set out several options, including when a court can overturn an election or fines. The suit also seeks undisclosed civil penalties and costs of investigation and trial and attorney’s fees.

The state Public Disclosure Commission says MacLean schemed to conceal donors for the mailers that urged voters to support a conservative candidate over Sen. Jean Berkey, who lost in August’s primary.
