State Republican leader Richard DeBolt has endorsed state Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, in Benton’s race for the U.S. Senate.

“I wholeheartedly give my support to Sen. Benton in this race,” Rep. DeBolt of Centralia said in a statement released by the Benton campaign. “We need to send someone to Washington, D.C. who understands the condition of our economy and how to get it moving again. Sen. Benton’s record speaks for itself; he has voted consistently against increasing spending. His pro-growth policies will put the American economy back in motion.”

In all, Benton has been endorsed by five state senators and six state representatives. He is among 11 Republicans who are running to unseat U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.

He is running his statewide campaign from an office in Tumwater.
