Say What? Readers flock to funny entry
Friday, February 15, 2008
By MIKE BAILEY, Columbian staff writer

Brian WileThere was no doubt which caption Columbian readers enjoyed most in this month’s caption contest.

Vancouver’s Brian Wile, 33, wrote the entry that proved to be the overwhelming favorite, receiving 51 of the 78 votes cast. “The caption came to me immediately when I saw the picture,” Wile said. “I enjoy the outdoors, so it caught my eye.”

It was a close race for second place, however.

Battle Ground’s Earl Floyd won the No. 2 spot by edging out Dave McCormick of Vancouver by one vote. Here are their entries:

First runner-up: “I know they’re here somewhere. I can feel it!” — Earl Floyd, Battle Ground

Second runner-up: “OK, binocular boy, let me tell you how we deal with Peeping Toms.” — Dave McCormick, Vancouver
