Crafters, artists descend on Uptown Village

Craft in the Village will showcase local artists and craftspeople from 4 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month through September in the parking lot next to One World Merchants, 2315 Main St., Vancouver.

Merchants along Main Street, between Mill Plain Boulevard and West 24th Street, will also host artists and remain open later as part of First Friday in the Village. The artists and merchants who will be showing items at Craft in the Village are:

n Northwest Shirts, screen-printed T-shirts and accessories.

n Animals Are Wise, handcrafted porcelain animal jewelry.

n Carly Bodnar, screen-printed cards and original art prints.

n Sageworks Designs, jewelry.

n Nicholas Liebrecht, paintings.

n Dwanjabi, Eastern-inspired clothing and accessories.

n Guerrilla Media, showcase of local artists and talent.

n Renee Shearer, pottery.

n Yardley Forge, metal smithing work.

n Dorothy Lewis, handmade bags.

n Visions from Void, dream-inspired sculpture and art.

What: Uptown Movie Nights.
When: Live music starts at about 7:30 p.m. with the movie following at 8:45 p.m on the first Friday of the month through September. Entertainment schedule: Tonight, concert by Jen, Deborah and Kristen, followed by “Speed Racer” (PG); Aug. 7, concert by The Red Spades, followed by “The Muppets Take Manhattan” (G); Sept. 4, concert by The New Jangles, followed by “Raising Arizona” (PG-13). Viewers should bring blankets or low-back chairs.
Where: 23rd and Main streets in Vancouver’s Uptown Village. Movies are projected on the south side of the LSW Architects building.
Cost: Free.
